American Security Project launches business council to bolster U.S. economic competitiveness.
Washington D.C., March 20, 2015

– Risk Cooperative’s CEO and Founder, Dante Disparte, was appointed Chair of the Business Council for American Security (BCAS). The BCAS is part of the American Security Project (ASP) a bi-partisan think tank founded by Secretary of State John Kerry and former Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, among others, to help strengthen American security and broaden the definition of security for the 21st century. The BCAS is comprised of senior business leaders wishing to contribute to national security issues enhancing economic competitiveness. As Chair of the BCAS, Mr. Disparte will lead the Council on tackling the most pressing policy issues affecting U.S. competitiveness and security, such as economic and environmental risks, the ease of doing business, global engagement and entrepreneurship, among other key issues.

“It is a great honor to be selected to lead the Business Council for American Security,” said Dante Disparte, CEO and Founder of Risk Cooperative. “Bi-partisan organizations like ASP are necessary in order to strengthen the security of our nation, and continue to foster and export a culture of risk-taking and entrepreneurship. “The Business Council for American Security will bring the public and private sector together in close collaboration, helping to identify and solve the key issues impacting growth and overall competitiveness in the global economy. A nation’s competitiveness is measured by the degree to which its firms can compete in the global economy, while raising the living standards of its average citizens. This is the central tenant of the Business Council.”

The Business Council for American Security will work closely with ASP staff on a broad range of policy issues including energy, climate change, trade, foreign investment, diplomacy, and other U.S. interests impacting competitiveness. The close collaboration will help to generate awareness and influence policy decisions to positively impact the global business landscape.
